Singapore

Couple of days in Singapore

Singapore is one of most happening, amazing, cosmopolitan, clean, attractive, urbane, polished, sophisticated, beautiful cities in world.
Generally many people come to Singapore spend couple of days here and then  move to nearby locations like Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, or Thailand.

One can spend from a day to a week in Singapore if tourist, or even more. Singapore has plenty to offer from  most luxurious hotels to nature, Sea Beach to universal studio, most cosmo full of luxury brands Orchard Road, cultural China town, little India, Arab street, to Malaysian street, and to Red light Geylang Street. Thousands of dining options with variety from 57th floor roof top to River side, In the basement of luxury shopping mall, or road side. Sea Beach or Compact street.

I believe if you have only couple of days in singapore, one can plan like below.
One day for marina bay, Two days for Sentosa, and One more day for rest of singapore.

One day in Marina Bay -
Visit Marina Bay Sands, if you are staying in marina bay sands then its best, at least at the time of writing this post in Feb, 2013. I would say Marina Bays Sands is the best hotel in singapore, and its best experience to stay there. The marvelous architecture of the hotel  with three towers, Roof top infinity swimming pool connecting three towers, a d view of singapore sky line form the 57th floor. One can even pay 20$ to reach the top of Marina Bay Sands to view Singapore. But visitors are not allowed to access swimming pool or go near to it. Also there is a restaurant at the top, a souvenir shop. From the top you can view the singapore tall buildings, mostly offices, and see clearly you can see Art&Scrience Museum, Merilion park, Singapore flyer, Esplande theater, Fulerton bay, and Gardens by the Bay. All you have to visit, All are must visit. Or you visit all these in the day time, and return to Marina Bay Sands in night.
Day - If you are staying not in marina bay, then take a taxi to Fullerton bay or Merillion park, The historic park with historic Lion statue. Walk to Esplande theater, or take a taxi directly to Singapore flyer, the historic flyer to view whole of singapore. Ride on it. One can walk form  merilion park to esplande theater then from there can walk through helix bridge to Marina Bay Sands and enter the shopping mall of marina bay sands. Do shopping there, Enter the casino of Marina bay sands, its 24*7. Its free for foreigners. Walk to the front of hotel. Walk to Gardens By the bay, It would take 2-4 hours in gardens by the bay. Come back to marina bay sands, then if want and have time go to Arts& Science Museum, come back to marina bay sands.  By the  it would be evening. Pay 20$, or take some package of sky park + dinner, and reach the top of hotel, for an life time, awesome view. Its one day which would create memories for long time.

Another 2 days in singapore
If you have visited the Gardens by the Bay, and you are interested in more gardens, there are more in Singapore. Apart from gardens there is nature trails also, and very nice Zoo.

If looking for shopping, and marina bay sands shopping complex wasn't enough, go to Orchard Road. One amazing road full of shopping complex on both side. You would get all brands on this road, And many amazing shopping malls. ION Orchard mall, where you can take lift to reach 54th floor to view Singapore city, and can have food also there. One can go to Takashimaya for range, like one floor dedicated to hand bags only. Lucky plaza for buying cheap souvenirs  And if want to get massage, night life, pole dance, dance bars and girls  go to Orchard tower opposite Hilton hotel.

If you want to visit museum there is singapore museum, but I would also say visit Raffels hotel, where you would really get feeling of British time. Opp. Raffels hotel is Chimes, a old shopping mall with some good bars. One can also visit the Ritz Carlton hotel for amazing art work on walls.

If you are interested in boat and boat ride, the Singapore has got amazing boat rides. One must take boat rides in Singapore, Or take city tour on boat, Or go to Clark Quay in evening or Boat Quay in evening for a memorable night, Take boat ride there, Eat amazing delicious food on river side, visit famous pubs, bars in night.

Now if you want to walk in culture, and take a different look, a look different from tall buildings. Visit  chinatown, or visit Little India, or visit Arab Stree, Haji Lane, or Emerald hill. Among these I would say Arab Street/Haji Lane is good. One can visit china town, but only good thing there is the Budha temple.

Rest Day in Sentosa -
There are two memorable ways to reach sentosa from singapore, one is cable car from Harbourfront OR walk on sentosa Broadway from vivocity mall.  VicoCity is nice shopping mall, good restaurants and its kind of worth visiting and must visit if you have time. IN sentosa there is malaysian street, which gives malaysian food  in affordable prices, there are bars, hotels, One can walk all the way along to the end of sentosa. They got beaches also. If you enter Universal Studios, you can spend one complete day there, and then come one more day to visit rest of Sentosa. Some are disappointing there like Underwater world, and lost world. Also park is disappointing.

I would recommend staying in Marina Bay Sands, Raffels, Fullerton, or Ritz Carlton. If not then stay in some hotel in marina bay or Orchard Road.
